The iconic Twitter bird logo, which was removed from the company’s former headquarters in San Francisco after Elon Musk’s takeover and rebranding of the platform to X, has sold for nearly USD 35,000 at auction.
The 254 kg (560 lbs) sign, measuring 12 feet by 9 feet, was sold by RR Auction, a company specializing in rare and collectible items, for USD 34,375. The auction house did not disclose the identity of the buyer.
This auction follows a series of other sales from the former Twitter headquarters, which included a range of items from signs and memorabilia to more ordinary items like kitchen equipment and office furniture.
In addition to the Twitter bird logo, several other tech history items fetched impressive prices. An Apple-1 computer with accessories sold for USD 375,000, an Apple Computer Co. check signed by Steve Jobs in 1976 went for USD 112,054, and a first-generation 4GB iPhone, still sealed in its original package, was sold for USD 87,514.
