India Thanks UK for Support After Pahalgam Terror Attack, Jaishankar Meets UK Foreign Secretary

India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Saturday and thanked the UK for strongly condemning the terrorist attack that happened in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22.

Jaishankar appreciated the UK’s solidarity and said, “India has zero tolerance for terrorism and we expect our global partners to understand that. We will never accept that those who commit acts of terror are seen on the same level as their victims.”

Soon after the April 22 attack, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer had expressed his support, calling the attack “utterly devastating” and saying his thoughts were with the victims and the people of India.

To further strengthen international understanding, a multi-party Indian delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad visited the UK from May 31 to June 3. The team met UK leaders and media, highlighting India’s firm stand against terrorism and explaining Operation Sindoor—India’s response to the Pahalgam attack.

The delegation also held detailed talks with the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on India, focusing on security cooperation and India’s approach to tackling cross-border terrorism.

UK Foreign Secretary Lammy, who is on his second visit to India, will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both sides are discussing ways to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including cooperation in economy and migration.
