India and Pakistan Agree to Ceasefire After Four-Day Conflict

India and Pakistan Agree to Ceasefire After Four-Day Conflicts Pakistan have agreed to stop fighting after four days of conflict. The ceasefire started at 5:00 PM on Saturday.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the decision was made after a phone call from Pakistan’s top military officer (DGMO) to his Indian counterpart at 3:35 PM. They talked and reached an understanding to stop military action. Both sides will speak again on May 12 to discuss more.

Indian sources said the agreement was made directly between India and Pakistan. They also denied the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s claim that talks on other issues would be held elsewhere.

Marco Rubio had posted online that both countries agreed not only to a ceasefire but also to broader talks. US President Donald Trump also posted that the US had helped mediate the talks and praised both nations for their decision.

Rubio said that in the last 48 hours, US officials had spoken with Indian and Pakistani leaders, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, and praised their wise decision to choose peace.
