FIR Filed Against Anurag Kashyap Over Remarks on Brahmins, Filmmaker Issues Apology

A case has been filed against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap by the police in Raipur for his recent comments about the Brahmin community. He is accused of promoting enmity between different groups.

The FIR (First Information Report) was registered at the City Kotwali police station on Monday. The complaint was made by Pandit Neelkanth Tripathi, who is the national vice president of the Rashtriya Brahman Mahasangh (Bharat) and its Chhattisgarh in-charge.

According to the complaint, Anurag Kashyap posted a comment on social media that was seen as insulting and offensive toward Brahmins. The complainant said Kashyap’s words had hurt the feelings of the community and could disturb peace in society.

Kashyap has been booked under Sections 196 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These sections relate to promoting enmity between groups and intentionally hurting religious feelings.

On Tuesday, Anurag Kashyap responded to the issue by apologizing. He said he had used abusive language in anger while replying to someone online and admitted that he crossed a line. He apologized to anyone hurt by his words.

Police said the matter is being investigated further.
