AAP Leaders Launch Sharp Attack on BJP, Congress; Accept Transparency Challenge

In a strong show of support for AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora in the Ludhiana West bypoll, Aam Aadmi Party leaders Aman Arora and Lal Chand Kataruchak addressed separate press conferences on Wednesday, targeting rival parties while reaffirming AAP’s commitment to clean and transparent politics.

Aman Arora, AAP’s Punjab president, welcomed Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar’s recent proposal that all political leaders undergo dope tests and disclose their assets. Calling it a step towards more honest governance, Arora said, “AAP was built on the principles of transparency and accountability by Arvind Kejriwal. I welcome Jakhar’s suggestion and am ready for a dope test and to disclose my property publicly. Let’s do it in front of the media and medical experts.”

He further urged Jakhar to take the proposal nationwide: “Why stop at Punjab? I request Sunil Jakhar to raise this with PM Modi and BJP president JP Nadda. I will consult Arvind Kejriwal to push for national-level implementation.”

Meanwhile, Lal Chand Kataruchak hit back at critics who accuse AAP of being controlled from Delhi. He said, “Every national party has a centralised structure. The Congress and BJP are no different.” He pointed out that even Punjab Congress president Raja Warring had no say in deciding the party’s campaigners, and accused BJP’s state leaders of prioritizing Delhi over Punjab.

Kataruchak questioned BJP’s appointment of Gujarat’s Vijay Rupani to oversee Punjab affairs, asking, “What does he know about Punjab’s history or culture? It shows how disconnected the BJP is from Punjab’s ground reality.”

He compared BJP’s political approach to the rule of the Mughals, accusing the party of using Punjab only for political gain. “Delhi’s BJP leadership sees Punjab as a colony, not a partner. They want to extract value, not give anything back,” he alleged.

Kataruchak also took a swipe at the Congress, saying, “A party run from Italy has no moral ground to raise questions about local leadership.”

The AAP leaders rallied behind Sanjeev Arora and called on Ludhiana West voters to support a candidate who stands for transparency, accountability, and Punjab’s self-respect.
