Ludhiana: Police Shocked to Find This Item Hidden in a ‘Quilt’ Being Sent to California.
Ludhiana, November 17, 2025: At the DHL Express facility in Dhandari Kalan, a significant smuggling effort was thwarted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence’s (DRI) Ludhiana Zonal Unit. 735 grams of opium were found in a suspicious package that the DRI stopped on its way from Firozpur to California. A quilt was being used to hide the opium.
Four carbon paper-wrapped packets
Four packages were concealed in the quilt that was sent in the package, which officials thoroughly searched during the inquiry. To get around the scanner, the smugglers wrapped these four parcels with transparent tape and carbon paper.
Smuggling in the Name of Domestic Products
The smugglers tried to move this illicit shipment overseas under the pretense of “household and food items.” In accordance with the NDPS Act of 1985, the DRI has seized the 735 grams of opium that were found and has taken additional action against this network.
