External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that India-China relations are getting better and further improvement can bring benefits to both countries. He made this statement during a meeting with Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng in Beijing.
Jaishankar is currently in China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Foreign Ministers’ meeting. During the visit, he said that the relationship between the two countries has been improving since Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan last October.
He also said that Indians appreciated the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Jaishankar added that both countries should keep talking openly, especially in today’s complex global situation, since they are neighbors and major economies.
He is also expected to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi before the main SCO meeting.
India and China recently celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations.
