Amritpal has identified in the petition The ਪੰਜਾਬ and Haryana High Court will hear Khadoor Sahib MP’s and “Waris ਪੰਜਾਬ De” chairman Amritpal Singh’s parole application ਅੱਜ.

Amritpal Singh, who is presently being held in Dibrugarh Jail, Assam, under the National Security Act (NSA), filed a plea in the ਪੰਜਾਬ and Haryana High Court contesting the ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ’s decision to refuse him parole so he may attend the Winter Session of Parliament.

He argues that his presence is extremely necessary to raise crucial issues like the recent floods and other pressing matters in the state before the Parliament.

Run from Supreme Court to High Court

The Supreme Court had already been contacted by Amritpal Singh. He maintained that it is his fundamental prerogative as an MP to take part in House procedures. His plea was denied by the Supreme Court, which advised him to first make his case before the appropriate High Court. His attorneys then submitted a petition to the High Court in November.

The ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ was instructed by the High Court during the most recent hearing to make a decision on Amritpal’s parole application within a week. Following this directive, the ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ categorically denied parole, citing intelligence inputs from the Amritsar SSP and Deputy Commissioner (DC). The assessment voiced concerns that Amritpal’s release may worsen the state’s peace and order situation and endanger national security.

 Court Battle to Resume ਅੱਜ

Amritpal Singh’s attorneys have now appealed the ਸਰਕਾਰ’s denial of parole to the High Court. Whether the Court intervenes in the ਸਰਕਾਰ’s decision or permits Amritpal to attend the session, which is set to take place from December 1st to December 19th, will be decided during ਅੱਜ’s hearing.
