Union ਮੰਤਰੀ Ravneet Singh Bittu has accused ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Bhagwant Mann of trying to divide ਪੰਜਾਬ and Haryana by raising the water-sharing issue at a sensitive time. Bittu said that when the whole country is united against Pakistan after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Mann should not bring up state disputes.
CM Mann recently refused to give extra water to Haryana, saying the state has already used more than its share. He claimed ਪੰਜਾਬ has no extra water left, especially with the paddy farming season coming up. He also blamed the BJP for pressuring ਪੰਜਾਬ through the Bhakra Beas Management Board.
Bittu criticized Mann, saying this was the wrong time to talk about such issues. He called Mann’s actions “shameful” and demanded an apology, accusing him of playing politics instead of showing unity with the nation.
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini also responded, saying Mann was twisting facts. Saini said he had written a letter to Mann on April 27 but instead of replying, Mann posted a video to mislead ਲੋਕ.
The water dispute between ਪੰਜਾਬ and Haryana has been ongoing for years, but Bittu said raising it now was unnecessary and harmful to national unity.
