Vikram Majithia’s Bail Hearing to Be Held Today in Mohali Court

Mohali: The Mohali court will hear the bail application of former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Vikram Singh Majithia today. Along with the regular bail plea, the court will also consider his request to change the conditions of his release.

Majithia was arrested on June 25 by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau in a case related to a residential property in Amritsar. He has been given one month to present his side to the bureau.

During today’s hearing the ADJ court will review reports related to the case. A decision on the bail modification has been reserved and the next hearing is scheduled for August 2.

Majithia’s lawyer argues that as a public representative and minister, he should not face strict restrictions. The lawyer also says the case is still under investigation and lacks strong evidence.

In 2021, Majithia was questioned for six days by senior vigilance officials, including Deputy Director Siddharth Chattopadhyay during the Congress government. The charges involve allegations of money laundering and corruption across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.

The court has also issued a notice to the Punjab government regarding a case related to disproportionate assets which will be further reviewed in upcoming hearings.
