Radhakrishnan, an NDA candidate, submits his nomination for vice president: With Shah, Rajnath, and Nadda present, Modi was the initial proposer; the poll was scheduled for September 9.

C. P. Radhakrishnan, the NDA’s nominee for vice president, has submitted his nomination. The initial proposer was Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The nomination was attended by a number of prominent figures, including BJP President J. P. Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah. Radhakrishnan presented flowers to the Gandhi statue on the grounds of Parliament before the nomination.

The BJP parliamentary party meeting on August 17 decided on his name. Radhakrishnan’s name was revealed at a press conference by BJP President J. P. Nadda.

The candidate of the opposition alliance, former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, will run against Radhakrishnan. The fact that both candidates are from the South is noteworthy. On August 21, Reddy would submit his nomination.

On September 9, voters will cast their ballots for vice president. On the same day, the counting will also happen. Nominations must be submitted by August 21st. August 25 is the deadline for withdrawal of candidature.

In actuality, Jagdeep Dhankhar’s abrupt departure on the evening of July 21 is the reason for the vice presidential election. Dhankhar, 74, was in office until October 27, 2027.
