Following a tip, the Chunni police discovered that Mandi Gobindgarh residents Dalip Kumar and Ranjit Singh, also known as Jodha, were unlawfully purchasing cheap alcohol and reselling it to workers for a higher price. According to reports, they were travelling from Chandigarh to Chunni in a Verna car carrying a load of alcoholic beverages.

In response to this information, the police established a checkpoint and pulled over a Verna driven by Dalip Kumar and Ranjit Singh with license plate PB.03.X-5196. The authorities discovered 168 bottles of alcohol in the vehicle during the examination. In accordance with Section 61/1/14 of the Excise Act, both people were taken into custody, and a case was filed against them at the Badali Ala Singh police station.
