Two Aides of Foreign-Based Gangsters Arrested After Gunfight in Tarn Taran

Two suspected associates of foreign-based gangsters Lakhibir Singh Landa and Satta were arrested by a joint team of Tarn Taran Police and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) during an early morning encounter near Jawanda village on Friday.

The arrested men have been identified as Yuvraj Singh alias Jagga and Mehakpreet Singh. Both were injured in the exchange of gunfire and are now being treated at a private hospital, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhimanyu Rana.

Police had received credible information about the movement of the suspects and tracked them to a remote area near Jawanda village. When officers tried to stop them, the suspects opened fire, and the police responded. SSP Rana said the team fired four rounds, successfully injuring and capturing the suspects.

The two are believed to be involved in several serious crimes, including extortion and targeted shootings. They are accused in a firing case that targeted Gurpreet Singh, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sarpanch of Naushehra Pannuan, on March 21. Mehakpreet is also wanted in a grenade recovery case.

Police recovered one Glock 9mm pistol, one PX30 .30 calibre pistol, and live bullets from the suspects. Early investigations suggest that they were working for gangsters based abroad and were assigned to carry out targeted killings in Punjab.

A case has been filed by Sarhali Police, and further investigation is ongoing.
