Trump says Elon Musk Relies on Government Subsidies, Criticizes EV Mandate

Former US President Donald Trump said that Elon Musk’s companies would not survive without help from the government. He claimed that Musk might have to shut down his businesses and go back to South Africa if subsidies were stopped.

Trump shared his views on his social media platform, Truth Social. He said he was always against the electric vehicle (EV) mandate and believes that while electric cars are fine, people should not be forced to buy them. He also asked the Department of Government Efficiency to review the government support given to Musk.

Trump wrote, “Elon may get more subsidies than any human in history. Without them, there would be no rockets, satellites, or electric cars, and the country would save a lot of money.”

This came after Elon Musk strongly criticised a new government spending bill, calling it wasteful. Musk said the bill increases the US debt by a record five trillion dollars and said it shows the US is being run by a “Porky Pig Party” — meaning there is no real difference between the main political parties anymore.

Musk also questioned why members of the Republican Party’s Freedom Caucus supported the bill, saying it would damage their chances in future elections. He called the bill “political suicide” for the Republicans.

Musk and Trump have had a rocky relationship. Although Musk once supported Trump, he later called for Trump’s impeachment and even linked him to controversial figure Jeffrey Epstein.
