In the run-up to the Ludhiana West Assembly byelection, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Parupkar Singh Ghuman has said he is receiving strong and emotional support from the local voters. According to media reports, Ghuman has been focusing on direct engagement with residents through door-to-door campaigns and local gatherings, which he believes has created a sense of belonging among the people.
He stated that the response from voters has been heartening, with many treating him like a member of their own family. “It’s not just about votes—it’s about trust, emotions and a bond that politics alone cannot create,” he said.
Ghuman said he doesn’t view any candidate as a competitor, instead emphasising that his campaign is rooted in sincerity and presence, rather than advertisements or outside influence. He took a dig at rivals who, according to him, rely on national leaders and publicity stunts to gain attention. “People here don’t want outsiders parachuting in for campaigns. They value consistency and someone who’s walked with them year-round,” he said.
Highlighting his connection to the constituency, Ghuman noted that he has grown up in Ludhiana West and considers it his home. “This is more than just a constituency for me—it’s where I belong. The people here are like my extended family,” he said.
He added that his legal background and understanding of governance will help him deliver results if elected. The main challenge, he said, is to break through the noise of short-term promises and highlight long-term commitment and credibility.
Ghuman also pointed to the active involvement of the SAD leadership on the ground, asserting that real leadership is about being present and accountable. As the byelection nears, Ghuman is positioning himself as a local candidate focused on service, trust, and long-term development.
