The Chandigarh Police have launched a significant operation against illegal immigration firms that do not have the proper licences. Under Section 223 of the Indian Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, 49 First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed, and about 49 people—including business owners and employees—were subject to action for disobeying the District Magistrate’s directives.
The Chandigarh government is dedicated to eradicating drug use and is implementing a “zero-tolerance” policy. Habitual offenders who pose a serious threat to public safety are currently lodged in Model Jail, Chandigarh, and will soon be transferred to another jail to break the local drug trafficking network.
