Supply of Newspapers Stopped in Punjab: Police Claim Vehicles Checked on Suspicion of Drug and Arms Smuggling; People Received Newspapers Several Hours Late.

In Punjab, the police conducted an operation on Friday and Saturday night, stopping and inspecting cars that were transporting newspapers in various locations. Starting at ten o’clock at night, this checking went on until ten o’clock in the morning. As a result, the morning newspaper was not delivered on time to residents of the majority of cities, towns, and villages.

Sources claim that the police were involved in the procurement of weapons and drugs. As a result, cars were stopped and searched on the highways as they left the printing sets of various newspapers. Dog teams were also dispatched to numerous locations.

In certain locations, cars were brought inside the police station for inspection. As of right now, no senior Punjab Police officer has made an official statement about this.

Nearly all publications were impacted by this checking, and it had an impact on their suppliers. Newspapers were not delivered on time to residents of Ludhiana, Amritsar, Moga, Faridkot, Kotkapura, Pathankot, Fazilka, Abohar, and Barnala. As a result, the distributors and merchants of newspapers seemed concerned. Some drivers claim that the cops were specifically inspecting two publications’ cars.
