Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has written a letter to Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ Narendra Modi, calling the sharing of ਪੰਜਾਬ’s river waters not a dispute, but a “loot” against the ਲੋਕ of ਪੰਜਾਬ.
Badal warned that if ਪੰਜਾਬ’s long-standing issues are not addressed, it could lead to unrest like in the past, which affected the state for over two decades. He urged the Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ to resolve ਪੰਜਾਬ’s water-related grievances with fairness, just like in other inter-state disputes. He said, “Punjabis are not asking for favours, they are only asking for justice.”
Sukhbir also criticised ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of weakening ਪੰਜਾਬ’s stand by promising to give river water to Haryana and Rajasthan. He said the CM is being double-faced and playing with a serious issue.
Badal asked the central ਸਰਕਾਰ to make solving ਪੰਜਾਬ’s problems a national priority to prevent future troubles.
