Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, accusing it of secretly recruiting 22 outsiders through the Punjab Development Commission to control 10 key departments, including agriculture, education, health, power, and tourism.
In a sharp attack, Badal alleged that AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was trying to run Punjab like the British East India Company, accusing the Delhi-based leadership of taking over the state’s governance.
He claimed that these appointments—mostly as advisors and communication officers—were being made at very high salaries, draining Punjab’s already stretched treasury. According to him, the recruitment notifications did not mention any requirement for Punjabi language skills or preference for local candidates, making it easier to bring in people close to AAP from outside the state.
Badal also targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of handing over Punjab to “looters.” He demanded that Mann resign immediately, saying, “It is high time for Bhagwant Mann to step down.”
The AAP government has not yet officially responded to these allegations.
