The Special Security Force (SSF) of the Punjab government enforced Section 144 restrictions and seized 144 Toyota Hilux vehicles during a recent operation. Following the action political controversy erupted as BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa strongly denied any conspiracy involving crores of rupees.
According to Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia no plot was planned but the situation has attracted serious attention. During the investigation officials recovered ₹10 lakh in cash with a total of ₹14.5 crore more found later. The source of the large sum and Sirsa’s alleged involvement became a point of concern.
Sirsa rejected all allegations accusing the Punjab government of misusing power and damaging the state’s image. He called for a full investigation into the matter suggesting that corrupt officials were misusing public funds. He also demanded accountability and strict action against those involved.
Criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Sirsa alleged that under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership the state administration was involved in corrupt practices. He urged central agencies like the CBI or ED to carry out a proper inquiry.
Sirsa pointed out that even Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa had previously raised similar concerns. He insisted that those guilty of corruption must be punished and the misuse of Punjab’s treasury must be stopped immediately.
