Schools Closed Near Border Areas After India’s Missile Strikes in Operation Sindoor

Schools in some border areas of Punjab, including Amritsar, Fazilka, and Ferozepur, have been closed to keep students safe. The decision was taken by local district officials after the Indian Army carried out missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early Wednesday morning.

The strikes were part of Operation Sindoor, targeting camps linked to terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The action came two weeks after 26 civilians were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said that schools will stay closed until the situation is safe. Some schools had first said they were closing for just one day, but this could change based on future developments.

In Jammu and Kashmir, all schools and colleges in areas like Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch are also closed today. This follows firing and shelling by the Pakistan military last night, which killed three civilians.

Parents are advised to stay in touch with their schools for updates on when classes will start again.
