SBS Nagar Sees Heaviest Rainfall in Punjab, Some Districts Stay Dry

SBS Nagar received the highest rainfall in Punjab over the past 24 hours, with 42.1 mm, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Other areas that saw significant rain include Ropar (41.9 mm), SAS Nagar (36.4 mm), and Ferozepur (36.3 mm).

However, not all regions in Punjab saw rain. Several parts of north-west Punjab — including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Tarn Taran — as well as parts of the Malwa region like Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa remained dry.

So far, June has been wetter than usual, with Punjab receiving 26% more rainfall than normal. From June 1 to the morning of June 26, the state recorded 62.8 mm of rain, while the long-term average for this period is 49.7 mm.

In terms of temperature, daytime highs ranged from a hot 40.8°C in Bathinda to a cooler 28.6°C in Ballowal Saunkhri. In some areas, temperatures were up to 6.3°C below normal, offering a brief respite from the summer heat. Minimum temperatures, however, remained close to the normal range across the state.
