Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Aljubeir, is in India on a surprise visit. He met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday to discuss reducing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Their meeting came after India launched missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These strikes were a response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
Jaishankar posted on social media that he had a good meeting with Aljubeir and shared India’s strong stand against terrorism.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, also arrived in New Delhi late last night for a scheduled visit. He will meet Jaishankar and President Droupadi Murmu during his stay.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the missile strikes were a “proportionate” action because Pakistan had not taken any real steps to stop terrorist groups operating from its land.
