Bollywood superstar Salman Khan addressed the 31-year age gap between him and his Sikandar co-star Rashmika Mandanna during the trailer launch of the upcoming movie on Sunday. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, is set to release on March 30 during the festival of Eid.
Taking a lighthearted jibe at those criticizing the age difference, Salman questioned, “If the heroine doesn’t have any problem or the heroine’s father doesn’t have any problem, then why do you have a problem?” He humorously added, “And when she gets married and has a daughter, and then she becomes a big star, we’ll work together again, and we will get the mother’s permission for sure.”
Salman, 59, went on to praise the 28-year-old Rashmika, noting her dedication and hard work. He admired her commitment, sharing how she would complete shooting for Pushpa 2 until 7 pm and then join the Sikandar team at 9 pm, working until 6:30 am the next day. He also mentioned how Rashmika continued to shoot despite suffering a leg injury, a determination he said reminded him of his younger self.
When asked about the pressure to meet the high expectations of his fans, Salman said it didn’t weigh on him. “With years of experience, the enthusiasm is still there and it is getting easier,” he explained, adding that he credits his loyal fans for making his films commercial successes. Salman humorously noted that regardless of the film’s quality, the love of the audience ensures that his films often cross significant box office milestones.
Sikandar, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, will release on March 30, coinciding with the Eid festival.
