Youth Akali Dal President and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer has strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, calling the recent two-day special Assembly session a “waste of public money and time.”
At a press conference, Jhinjer said the first day of the session lasted just 11 minutes, during which only obituary references were made. There was no Zero Hour, no debates, and no answers from the government. “₹2 crore was spent for just 11 minutes — this isn’t governance, this is a joke on the people of Punjab,” he said.
He questioned why, at a time when Punjab is dealing with serious issues like rising crime, farmer protests, and financial problems, the government did not use the session to discuss these problems. “If the government plans to introduce the Sacrilege Bill the next day, why wasn’t today used to talk about urgent matters?” Jhinjer asked.
He demanded a full seven-day legislative session instead of what he called “headline-driven gimmicks.” He also raised concerns about law and order in Punjab, pointing to frequent daylight murders and gangster threats. “Businessmen are scared, and industries are shifting out of Punjab. Recently, ₹15,000 crore worth of investment moved to Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
On the Land Pooling Policy, Jhinjer accused the government of cheating farmers. “This isn’t pooling — this is plundering. Farmers are being forced to give up their land despite strong opposition,” he claimed.
Jhinjer said people from all walks of life — farmers, traders, youth, and government workers — feel betrayed by the Mann government. “There is growing anger in the state, yet AAP seems more focused on PR than real policies.”
He ended by asking, “Why spend ₹2 crore of public money on just 11 minutes of Assembly work? What is the AAP government trying to hide?”
