H. Rajesh Prasad has been named Chandigarh’s new chief secretary. He had previously served as Jammu and Kashmir’s chief secretary. Rajiv Verma has been replaced by Prasad. Rajesh Prasad is an IAS officer from the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, having been commissioned in 1995. On September 28, Rajiv Verma was moved to Delhi.

After then, Manish Baraad, an IAS officer from the Haryana cadre’s 2005 batch, was assigned to the position of Chief Secretary.

Rajesh Prasad is who?
On June 1, 1970, Rajesh Prasad was born in Karnataka. He graduated from IGNOU and Puducherry University with a B.Com., an LLB, and an MBA in Finance and Public Management. He started up in Arunachal Pradesh as a District Collector.

After then, he also held the position of South Delhi’s Deputy Commissioner. As a Commissioner in the Delhi Administration, he oversaw the Urban Development, Trade, and Commerce departments. Following this, he also served as Principal Secretary in Delhi’s Departments of Education and Urban Development.

He was transferred to Jammu and Kashmir by the Central Government in September 2022 after serving as the Chief Nodal Officer for the Chandni Chowk Redevelopment Project.

Delhi’s Chief Secretary is Rajiv Verma.
According to reports, on September 28, the order for Rajiv Verma’s transfer was issued. The evidence indicates that at 4:30 PM on Sunday, Rajiv Verma met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He was thereafter named the new Chief Secretary of Delhi by the Central Government.

Born in Uttar Pradesh, Verma joined the Chandigarh Administration as an advisor in January of last year. He was thereafter named Chandigarh’s Chief Secretary by the Central Government. Next year, he is scheduled to retire.
