The ongoing rescue operation to search for 45 persons missing after the cloud burst in three districts of Himachal Pradesh has been resumed. However, there was no success in this regard.
A total of 410 rescuers from teams of the Army, National Disaster Management Force (NDRF), State Disaster Management Force (SDRF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), police and Home Guard are searching for the missing people with the help of drones, officials said. Eight people have been killed so far in the flood that occurred after the cloud burst in Shimla’s Rampur sub-division and Nirmand, Senj, Malana areas of Kullu on Wednesday night. Even after this, continuous rain continues in the state. After which water had to be released from many dams.
The rain falling in Himachal Pradesh can now wreak havoc in Punjab. Due to continuous rain in the hilly state, the water level of Ghaggar river has started to rise. On the other hand, traffic has been restored on a part of the Chandigarh-Manali highway which was closed due to heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh. Officials said that the road between Mandi and Pandoh was closed due to landslides during rains last night. He said that it took ten hours to remove the debris from this part of the road and open it. Due to the landslides, stones and debris were scattered on the road due to which the administration sent light vehicles on the way to Kataula and Gauhar. A large number of vehicles are still stuck on the road.
