Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday accused the Modi government of deliberately denying opportunities to eligible candidates from backward communities by declaring them “Not Found Suitable” (NFS) for key educational and leadership roles.
Taking to social media platform X, Gandhi said, “’Not Found Suitable’ is the new Manuvaad,” alleging that Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates are being unfairly rejected to keep them away from education and positions of influence.
Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s belief that “education is the biggest weapon for equality,” Gandhi said the current government is weakening that weapon. He pointed to Delhi University, where over 60% of reserved Professor posts and over 30% of Associate Professor posts remain vacant and labelled NFS.
He claimed this is not an isolated case, adding that similar patterns exist in IITs and other central universities. Calling it a “conspiracy,” he said the NFS system undermines the Constitution, betrays social justice, and blocks the rightful path to education, jobs, and dignity for marginalized communities.
“This is a fight for rights, respect, and equal participation,” Gandhi said, sharing a video of his interaction with Delhi University students. He urged people to stand united and push back against what he called anti-reservation efforts by the BJP and RSS, vowing to defend the Constitution.
