Putin Praises Elon Musk, Compares Him to Soviet Space Pioneer Sergei Korolev

Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Elon Musk on Thursday, saying he is like Sergei Korolev, the famous Soviet space engineer who helped launch the Soviet Union’s space program in the 1950s and 1960s.

According to Russian news agency TASS, Putin was speaking to students about space policy when he said:
“There’s a person in the U.S. who is absolutely crazy about Mars.”
He then compared Musk to Korolev, who played a key role in sending Yuri Gagarin, the first human, into space in 1961.

Putin said that people like Musk are rare, and even though their ideas may seem impossible at first, they often turn them into reality.

This is not the first time Putin has praised Musk. He has previously called him an “outstanding person.” Musk, who runs SpaceX, has big plans for space travel, especially missions to Mars.

However, Musk has also become a controversial figure, especially for his views on the Ukraine conflict, where he has criticized support for Ukraine during its war with Russia, which started in 2022.
