Punjab Police Arrest Two Drug Smugglers, Seize 6 Kg Heroin Near Amritsar

Punjab Police have arrested two drug smugglers and recovered 6 kilograms of heroin from them in a major operation near Amritsar.

The police registered a case under the NDPS Act at the Gharinda police station.

According to Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the Amritsar Rural Police team acted on specific intelligence and stopped two suspects near Bhakna village. The two men, identified as Gurditta alias Kalu and Captain, were carrying the heroin on a motorcycle.

The DGP said the drugs were sent by handlers based in Pakistan and were meant to be distributed in Punjab.

One more suspect involved in the case is currently on the run, and police are making efforts to catch him soon.

DGP Yadav called it a big step forward in the fight against cross-border drug smuggling.
