ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ have arrested two drug smugglers and recovered 6 kilograms of heroin from them in a major operation near Amritsar.
The ਪੁਲਿਸ registered a case under the NDPS Act at the Gharinda ਪੁਲਿਸ station.
According to ਪੰਜਾਬ’s Director General of ਪੁਲਿਸ (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the Amritsar Rural ਪੁਲਿਸ team acted on specific intelligence and stopped two suspects near Bhakna ਪਿੰਡ. The two men, identified as Gurditta alias Kalu and Captain, were carrying the heroin on a motorcycle.
The DGP said the drugs were sent by handlers based in Pakistan and were meant to be distributed in ਪੰਜਾਬ.
One more suspect involved in the case is currently on the run, and ਪੁਲਿਸ are making efforts to catch him soon.
DGP Yadav called it a big step forward in the fight against cross-border drug smuggling.
