ਪੰਜਾਬ Launches ਭਾਰਤ’s First Universal Health Insurance Scheme with ₹10 Lakh Cashless Coverage

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, making ਪੰਜਾਬ the first state in ਭਾਰਤ to offer cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh to all its residents.

At the launch event, CM Mann said the scheme would bring major relief to families who often cannot afford expensive treatments. Now, ਲੋਕ can get free treatment at any ਸਰਕਾਰ-empanelled hospital across the state. He called the move a big step towards ensuring quality healthcare for everyone, especially the common man.

Mann praised Kejriwal for prioritizing health, education, power, water, and infrastructure, saying these sectors have now become central to national politics. He also spoke about how Punjabis are being unfairly targeted by certain groups. Referring to the recent ban on Diljit Dosanjh’s film, Mann said it was unjust, especially since the movie was made long before the Pahalgam attack.

He reminded ਲੋਕ of ਪੰਜਾਬ’s critical contributions—feeding the nation and protecting its borders. Commenting on the recent tensions with Pakistan, Mann criticized the Centre’s “Operation Sindoor” campaign, calling it a political drama that trivialized ਲੋਕ’s emotions.

The ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ also promised to clean up the state, saying criminals once protected by previous governments would no longer be spared. “Those who proudly twirled their moustaches and ruined ਪੰਜਾਬ are now behind bars,” he said, vowing strict action against corrupt leaders.

Arvind Kejriwal, addressing the gathering, said the scheme marked a major leap toward universal healthcare. “This is what should have been done 50 years ago,” he said, blaming past governments for ignoring ਲੋਕ’s basic needs.

Kejriwal also criticized leaders who talk about making ਭਾਰਤ a “Vishwaguru” (world leader) but failed to provide basic healthcare to citizens. He pointed to countries like Singapore, Japan, and Germany, where early investment in health and education helped them progress rapidly.

Both leaders emphasized that ਪੰਜਾਬ’s new health scheme is not just a welfare measure, but a model for the rest of the country.
