Punjab Health Minister Visits Injured Doctor, Vows Justice and Safety for Medical Staff

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, visited the Super Specialty Hospital in Moga on Saturday to check on Dr. Anil Kamboj, who was seriously injured in a shocking shooting attack two days ago. Dr. Kamboj is the father of well-known Punjabi actress Tania.

The Minister called the attack “deeply unfortunate and inhuman” and promised that the people responsible will be caught and punished, no matter where they try to hide. He said the Punjab government is fully committed to maintaining law and order.

On July 4, two attackers dressed as patients entered Dr. Kamboj’s clinic in Moga and shot him at close range. The incident was recorded on CCTV, and police are investigating links to gangster groups, especially after past threats reportedly came from gangsters like Lakhbir Landa.

Dr. Kamboj is currently being treated for serious injuries. Dr. Balbir Singh said the best medical care is being provided. He also consulted online with top cardiologist Dr. Bishav Mohan from DMCH Ludhiana, and a team of specialists from there is expected to assist in the treatment.

The Minister added that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are closely monitoring Dr. Kamboj’s health updates.

During his visit, Dr. Balbir Singh met with Dr. Kamboj’s family, offering words of encouragement and support. He reassured them that the state is doing everything it can to ensure justice and provide full support.

He also emphasized that the Punjab government is working to improve the safety of doctors and healthcare workers. Plans include mapping hospitals with nearby police stations and setting up district-level safety monitoring committees.

“Anyone who threatens or misbehaves with healthcare staff will face strict action,” he warned.

Police continue to investigate the attack, questioning suspects and reviewing digital evidence.
