Fatehgarh Sahib: A review meeting was held today at the District Administrative Complex under the leadership of Punjab State Food Commission member Jasveer Singh Sekhon.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Manreet Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Surinder Singh Dhaliwal, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, Sekhon took stock of the implementation of the National Food Security Act 2013 and the Punjab Food Security Rules 2016. He said that under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann efforts are being made to ensure all eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government food schemes. He added that the commission has started visiting districts to review the ground-level execution of these schemes.
Sekhon directed the District Education Officers, Food Supply Controller and District Program Officer to ensure that information boards are installed outside all government schools, ration depots, and anganwadi centres. These boards should display the commission’s helpline number 9876764545 allowing citizens to register complaints or give suggestions directly.
He also informed that grievances can be submitted to the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) or through the commission’s website-psfc.punjab.gov.in.
Speaking on the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Surinder Singh Dhaliwal said that the functioning of the Food and Civil Supplies Department and other concerned departments is being regularly reviewed under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind.
After the meeting, Jasveer Singh Sekhon paid a surprise visit to the Government Elementary School in Manupur village located in Khera Block. He interacted with students, joined them for the mid-day meal and inspected the quality of food. He also checked kitchen hygiene, stock records and food storage arrangements. Keeping the rainy season in mind he issued instructions to ensure proper food storage and cleanliness.
