Punjab’s Leader of Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa, has been booked by the Mohali cybercrime police for spreading false and misleading information that could harm the country’s safety and unity.
Bajwa, a Congress leader, claimed during a TV interview that 50 bombs or hand grenades were smuggled into Punjab and 18 had already been used in terrorist attacks. These statements were made in a promotional clip even before the full interview was shown.
After this, Punjab Intelligence officers quickly went to his home for questioning. Following the controversy, Bajwa has not been reachable.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asked Bajwa to share the source of his information and questioned why he didn’t inform the Punjab Police if he knew about such serious matters.
