Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to make a strong plan to protect Punjab’s water, saying the state “cannot be allowed to go dry.” He said Haryana has already received its fair share of water, and Punjab cannot afford to give more.
Warring offered full support to the government to handle the situation caused by the Bhakra Beas Management Board’s decision to release 8,500 cusecs of water to Haryana. However, he criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for staging protests and sit-ins over the issue, calling them a “drama” to mislead people.
He questioned why AAP was protesting when it is in power and accused the party of having a secret deal with the BJP. He said this was clear when the government removed farmers from protest sites at the Haryana border.
Warring warned the AAP government not to surrender Punjab’s water to any other state.
