Ashwani Sharma, the newly appointed working president of the Punjab BJP, said on Sunday that the party will respond to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in the same tone he uses, but “four times louder.”
Speaking at a ceremony at the BJP office, Sharma was referring to CM Mann’s recent strong remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Mann had called the PM’s recent international tour “irresponsible and regrettable” and referred to Amit Shah as “Tadipaar.”
Sharma hit back, saying Mann is “running a circus instead of a government” for the past three years and four months. He reminded Mann that as a Chief Minister, he should speak with respect and remember that he holds a constitutional position, not a stage performance.
Many senior leaders attended the event, including Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, and other party members like Manpreet Badal, Parneet Kaur, and Somprakash.
Sharma also criticized the AAP government for not fulfilling promises made by Arvind Kejriwal before the 2022 Assembly elections. These included quick justice in sacrilege cases and ending the drug problem within 30 days of coming to power.
He also attacked the state government for failing to fill Punjab’s share of 2,550 jobs in the Bhakra Beas Management Board over the last three years and accused it of creating unnecessary controversy around the deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
