The Punjab State Election Commission has announced the schedule for by-elections to fill vacant posts in village panchayats. Polling will be held on July 27.
There are 90 vacant sarpanch posts and 1,711 vacant panch posts in different districts. These posts have remained vacant after the gram panchayat elections held on October 15, 2024, according to the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats.
The nomination process will begin on July 14. Candidates can file their nominations between 11 am and 3 pm in the offices of the concerned Returning Officers. The last date to submit nominations is July 17 up to 3 pm. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on July 18. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till July 19.
