The Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana will meet in Delhi on July 9 to discuss the construction of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal. The meeting is being arranged by the Union Ministry of Water Resources, which is trying to help both states reach an agreement.
Union Minister CR Patil will chair the meeting. A letter about this meeting has been sent to Punjab’s Chief Secretary KAP Sinha. Both Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini will attend the talks.
This will be the fourth round of talks on the issue. The previous three meetings could not reach any solution. The Supreme Court will next hear the SYL case on August 13, and the Centre will submit a progress report of the talks.
Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for July 8, but it was postponed to July 9 after Punjab requested a change. The past meetings were held on August 18, 2020, October 14, 2022, and January 4, 2023.
