Punjab Achieves 99.88% Timely Service Delivery, Lowest Pendency in Country: Aman Arora

In a significant milestone for citizen-centric governance, the Punjab government has successfully delivered 99.88% of essential public services within the stipulated time frame, marking the lowest pendency in service delivery across the country.

This achievement was announced by Aman Arora, AAP state president and Minister for Good Governance & Information Technology (GG&IT), at a press conference following a departmental review meeting with senior officials and deputy commissioners.

Between June 18, 2023, and June 17, 2024, over 48.85 lakh citizens availed themselves of various government services. Of these, only 5,868 cases (0.12%) exceeded the delivery deadline.

“This accomplishment reflects the strength and efficiency of our digital governance model,” said Arora. “The Government of India has also recognised Punjab’s top rank in timely service delivery.”

Measures to Boost Transparency and Accountability

The state has also rolled out new digital initiatives aimed at eliminating delays, corruption, and manual processes. Nearly 98% of local officials and representatives, including patwaris, municipal councillors, sarpanches, and nambardars, have been onboarded for digital verification of certificate applications.

This digital transition is designed to cut down physical visits, reduce red tape, and make services more accessible and transparent to citizens.

Arora also announced that officials with zero pendency will be rewarded, while action will be taken against those repeatedly delaying services or raising unnecessary objections.

“This is not just about technology—it’s about building a system where citizens are at the centre, and their time and trust are respected,” the minister said.
