PM Modi at G7: Terrorism Is a Threat to Humanity, Calls for United Global Action

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the G7 Outreach Session, made a strong appeal for united global action against terrorism. Referring to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, he said the incident was not just an attack on India but on all of humanity.

“Terrorism is an enemy of humanity. It targets all nations that value democracy,” PM Modi said during a session focused on energy security and global cooperation. His comments were shared by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in an official statement.

PM Modi thanked the international community for standing by India in its fight against terrorism but emphasized the need for a stronger and more consistent global response. He urged countries to take strict action against those who support or promote terrorism and warned against applying double standards.

“Some countries that support terrorism are still being rewarded, while others face sanctions for far less. This must stop,” he said.

PM Modi also posed three important questions to the world community:

  1. Will countries recognize the threat of terrorism only when they themselves become victims?

  2. How can the perpetrators of terror be treated the same as their victims?

  3. Will global institutions continue to remain silent in the face of terrorism?

In addition to security concerns, PM Modi highlighted the challenges faced by the Global South—nations that are often hit hardest by global crises like food shortages, energy insecurity, and economic instability. He said India sees it as its duty to voice their concerns on the global stage.

“The countries of the Global South suffer the most from uncertainty and conflict. If the world wants a sustainable future, it must understand their priorities,” he said.

His remarks were seen as a firm message for global unity against terrorism and greater inclusivity in global decision-making.
