Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann paid tribute to famous marathon runner Fauja Singh, who passed away recently.
PM Modi shared on social media that Fauja Singh was an extraordinary person who inspired many young people in India to stay fit. He praised Singh for his strong determination and said he was deeply saddened by his death.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also expressed sorrow. He said Fauja Singh made the Sikh community proud around the world with his long-distance running and will always be remembered.
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa also shared their grief.
The Punjab Assembly paid tribute to Fauja Singh as well. A special motion was introduced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravjot Singh to honor him.
