Pargat Singh Blames AAP for Not Opposing Centre’s Control Over Punjab’s Water

Congress leader Pargat Singh has strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for not bringing a proposal in the Punjab Assembly to reject the Dam Safety Act. He said this Act has given more control to the central government over the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), which manages Punjab’s river water.

Pargat Singh also said the Punjab government should have challenged the Act in the Supreme Court. He pointed out that only now, after BBMB decided to release 8,500 cusecs of water to Haryana, the AAP government has realized that Punjab is losing its water.

He said that river water is a state issue, and the central government should not interfere in it.
