Panchayat Secretary Self-Immolates in Fatehgarh Sahib: Land Dispute with Elder Brother Ongoing, Died During Treatment at PGI.
A Panchayat Secretary in Fatehgarh Sahib set himself on fire after dousing himself in fuel because he and his older brother were at odds over land. The severely burnt man passed away at PGI Chandigarh while receiving treatment. The cops arrived at the location after receiving the information. Based on the wife’s statement, a complaint has been filed against the older sibling.
Allegation: The land was fraudulently transferred in his name by his brother. Surjit Singh, the Panchayat Secretary of Bassi Pathana, and his older brother had a long-standing land dispute. The SHO said that there was a disagreement between Surjit Singh and his older brother, Paramjit Singh, regarding 16 acres of land that Surjit Singh’s father had left in his will.
12 of the 16 acres of land were given to him. Following this incident, Surjit Singh had severe distress. He took this fatal action as a result of his sorrow. In a critical state, he was initially brought to a private hospital in Mandi Gobindgarh. He was sent to PGI Chandigarh as his health worsened there, where he passed away from his wounds. Arrest pending; case filed against brother SHO According to Inderjit Singh of the Fatehgarh Sahib authorities Station, Nirmal Hospital in Mandi Gobindgarh provided the authorities with information regarding the occurrence. When the police arrived, they began looking into the situation. Based on the deceased’s wife’s allegation, the police have filed a complaint against the accused, Paramjit Singh. Paramjit Singh has not yet been arrested.
