External Affairs ਮੰਤਰੀ S. Jaishankar said on Wednesday that no foreign country helped ਭਾਰਤ and Pakistan stop fighting during Operation Sindoor. He made it clear that there was no third-party involvement, and the decision to pause the operation was not linked to trade deals.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha during a special discussion on Operation Sindoor Jaishankar said there were no phone calls between Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump between April 22 and June 16 countering Opposition claims that the US helped mediate a ceasefire.
He strongly stated that ਭਾਰਤ will not accept any cross-border terrorism. He said Pakistan crossed a red line with the terror attack in Pahalgam and ਭਾਰਤ had to respond through Operation Sindoor. If Pakistan attacks again ਭਾਰਤ will act again.
Jaishankar also said blood and water will not flow together explaining why ਭਾਰਤ suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan. He said this treaty signed by then Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ Nehru was not for peace but for appeasement.
He added that terrorism is now a global issue because of ਭਾਰਤ’s efforts. ਭਾਰਤ put pressure on Pakistan through FATF and even though ਭਾਰਤ is not a UN Security Council member it helped get UN recognition for The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Pakistan-based terrorist group. TRF had claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack.
