New Sewage Treatment Plant to be installed in Zirakpur, Mohali.

It is estimated that an STP with a capacity of to MLD will be installed, costing approximately crore.

The Municipal Council has taken a significant move to solve the grave issue of rising sewerage pressure and overflow in Zirakpur, Mohali district. A plan is being made to set up a new Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) near the Ramgarh Bhudda hamlet of the city.

The sewage from dozens of nearby colonies and societies, including Bhabat, Nabha Sahib, Dayalpura, and Zirakpur village, will be treated by this new STP. Officials from the Sewerage Board and the Municipal Council met to discuss this matter.

To be prepared is a detailed project report (DPR).
A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be created in order to ascertain the plant’s capability.

Sewerage Department SDOs Lavesh Kumar and Jasbir Singh attended the meeting, and Executive Officer Parvinder Singh Bhatti, AMF Karanpal Singh, SDO Patwari, and JE Savneet Singh represented the Zirakpur Municipal Council.

Price and Capacity
The Municipal Council has been asked by the Sewerage Board to provide information on the population and water usage of the area.

An STP with a capacity of roughly 13 to 15 MLD (million liters per day) will be erected in Ramgarh Bhudda, which has a population of about 80,000 according to the Zirakpur Municipal Council.

The estimated cost of installing this facility is ₹30 crore.

The present wastewater system is overworked.
The current sewage system in Zirakpur is currently handling about 30% more load than it can handle. Rain or higher pressure causes the ancient, shoddy sewer systems in many places to overflow, which causes serious problems for the locals.

Officials claim that the new STP will be built on contemporary technology, which will lessen current overload, address the overflow issue, and use less energy.
