New Chief Engineer of Municipal Corporation Will Take Charge Today: Manimajra Water Supply and Housing Project Completion a Big Challenge Before C.B. Ojha.
The new Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation is C.B. Ojha.
The Secretary of Local Government has ordered C.B. Ojha, who was the Chief Engineer of the Chandigarh Administration, to take control of the Engineering Wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC). Today, he will formally assume leadership of the Municipal Corporation. In 2020, he received a promotion to Chief Engineer. Sanjay Arora was taken out of this position prior to this. It was previously discussed that this responsibility would be assigned to Krishna Kumar, a senior engineer in the Municipal Corporation itself.
Removal of Sanjay Arora Only Four Days Before
Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria ordered the dismissal of Sanjay Arora, the Chief Engineer of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, four days ago on October 24, 2025.
Jasbir Singh, a senior deputy mayor for the Congress party, and Taruna Mehta are opposing the removal of an honest officer at the request of BJP council members.
However, the BJP Councillors have refuted this assertion. For almost a year and a half, Sanjay Arora worked here.
The Smart City’s Manimajra 24×7 Water Supply Project

On this project, a vigilance probe is presently underway.
The Vigilance has not yet received any documentation from the MC.
Furthermore, not even half of the requirements for electricity generation have been met by the business that was given the contract for the Diggian Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP).
A committee has been established to look at this, but its members are not yet prepared to draw attention to the STP’s shortcomings.
2. Sector 17’s Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC)
The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Sector 17 was not previously paid for by Smart City Limited.
Bharat Electrical Limited (BEL) is currently being asked to pay more than ₹10 crore.
A committee has also been established by the Municipal Commissioner for this purpose. Nevertheless, two committee members have declined to process the outstanding payment without the necessary documentation.
The Manimajra Housing Project
Another significant obstacle is finishing the Manimajra Housing Project.
Before C.B. Ojha, this was the largest and most contentious project.
The Manimajra Housing Project will be extremely difficult to finish because neither the project’s land acquisition nor the opponents are happy with the MC’s plan.
There will undoubtedly be a disagreement during the House meeting next month. He needs to resolve these matters first.
