Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi has written a formal letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to reopen the Kartarpur Corridor, which was shut last month due to rising border tensions between India and Pakistan.
As a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways, Gandhi said he had received numerous appeals, especially from the Sikh community, requesting the resumption of visits to Kartarpur Sahib, the sacred site where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent his final years.
In his letter, Gandhi emphasized that the corridor, inaugurated in 2019 to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, represents more than just a route—it is a symbol of peace, spiritual connection, and religious harmony between the two nations.
Echoing the sentiment, BJP leader Gurtej Singh Dhillon has also written to the Prime Minister, calling for the reopening of the corridor to honour the religious sentiments of devotees and maintain the spirit in which the project was first launches.
