Mohali Court Extends Bikram Singh Majithia’s Judicial Custody Till August 2

The Mohali court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia until August 2. This is part of an ongoing case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Majithia was brought to court after completing 14 days in jail. He is currently in New Nabha Jail, Patiala.

Earlier, he was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau from his house in Amritsar on June 25 and taken to Mohali the next day. The court first gave a seven-day ਪੁਲਿਸ remand on June 26, which was later extended by four more days on July 2.

During the ਪੁਲਿਸ remand, officers took Majithia to Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Delhi to collect evidence linked to Saraya Industries.

On July 6, the court sent him to 14-day judicial custody, which has now been extended.

Majithia, 49, had also moved the ਪੰਜਾਬ and Haryana High Court on July 1. He said the case against him is part of a political vendetta, as he is critical of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ਸਰਕਾਰ.
