Mayor Launches ‘Fire Safety Week’ with Awareness Rally in City

To promote fire safety awareness among residents, Mayor Inderjit Kaur inaugurated the ‘Fire Safety Week’ at the fire brigade headquarters near the railway station on Monday.

The week-long campaign began with an awareness rally that moved through major city roads, including Railway Station Road, Gill Road, Ferozepur Road, Mall Road, and Jagraon Bridge. Held under the theme “Unite to Ignite, a Fire Safe India,” the rally aimed to educate people about the importance of fire prevention and preparedness.

Mayor Inderjit Kaur, accompanied by Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO) Maninder Singh and other fire officials, also paid tribute to brave firefighters who lost their lives while on duty. A two-minute silence was observed in their memory.

ADFO Maninder Singh said the initiative is being carried out as per the directions of the Mayor and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal. Throughout the week, various activities including training sessions, mock drills at public places and hospitals, a blood donation camp, and school competitions will be held to engage the public.

Both the Mayor and ADFO urged citizens to take fire safety seriously by following safety guidelines and installing proper fire safety systems in their homes and workplaces to prevent accidents.
