A 26-year-old man who allegedly sent a ਮੌਤ threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been traced to a ਪਿੰਡ in Gujarat’s Vadodara ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ and has been found to be mentally unstable, ਪੁਲਿਸ said on Tuesday.
The Mumbai ਪੁਲਿਸ had received a threat message on their WhatsApp traffic helpline on Sunday. The message claimed that Salman Khan’s car would be blown up with a bomb and that the sender would enter the actor’s residence to assault him. Khan, who has Y-Plus security due to past threats, saw his security tightened outside his Bandra residence following the message.
A case was registered under Section 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation. Investigations led ਪੁਲਿਸ to Waghodia taluka in Vadodara, Gujarat, where the sender was identified as Mayank Pandya.
Vadodara ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ Superintendent of ਪੁਲਿਸ Rohan Anand confirmed that the Mumbai ਪੁਲਿਸ, along with local officers, visited the accused’s home on Monday. “It was found that the man is mentally unstable and undergoing treatment,” Anand said.
The ਪੁਲਿਸ did not arrest Pandya but issued him a notice, asking him to appear before them whenever required as part of the ongoing investigation.
This incident comes after previous threats to Salman Khan, including a firing incident outside his Bandra residence in April last year. Khan has also been on the radar of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which previously threatened him over the blackbuck poaching case. Security around the actor remains tight due to the ongoing threats.
